LIVING AUTHENTICITY

The journey begins where things are born

A place becomes memorable when you can connect it to a person, a supply chain, a table, or a workshop. In Abruzzo, authenticity has concrete addresses: vineyards, olive groves, home kitchens, studios, and villages.

For people with roots, it is a return. For people who love Italy, it is a discovery. For those seeking true Made in Italy, it is a way to see where what reaches the table, the cellar, or the workshop comes from.

ACCESS POINTS KNOW-HOW
WHERE TO BEGIN

Choose what you want to experience in Abruzzo

Villages and family towns

A village named in the family, a street, a last name, or a celebration can become the first point of recognition.

VILLAGES

Cuisine, tables, and recipes

A dish can tell of homes, seasons, celebrations, repeated gestures, and conviviality more than many words can.

FLAVORS

Wine, olive oil, and supply chains

Wineries, olive mills, and family businesses show where Italian taste comes from, beyond the label.

KNOW-HOW

Coast, trabocchi, and sea

The Trabocchi Coast, Vasto, Ortona, and the Chieti area bring together the Adriatic, seaside villages, and flavors of the sea.

COAST

Maiella, mountains, and inland areas

Mountains, villages, hermitages, and scenic roads show a slower Abruzzo, close to local rhythms.

INLAND

Stories, communities, and returns

A journey can become a story: a memory to share, a family to listen to, a community to rediscover.

STORIES
FLAVORS, HANDS, PRODUCTION

Know-how is one of the reasons to go

For those who love authentic Made in Italy, the product is not enough: origin, people, landscape, and supply chain matter.

In Abruzzo, wine, olive oil, cuisine, liqueurs, ceramics, and family businesses become gateways to the territory, even before you leave.

INFORMAZIONI
TRAVEL TRACKS

Four ways to shape your Abruzzo

These tracks are ideas to combine according to days, roots, season, and curiosity. You can start from the sea, a family village, a winery, a workshop, or a mountain road.

To put on the map: Pescara, Francavilla al Mare, Chieti, Ortona, Lanciano, Guardiagrele, the Trabocchi Coast, and, with more time, Vasto.

To experience: coast, trabocchi, historic center, pastry shop, workshop, or winery. This track can also include Cantina Dora Sarchese, as an example of wine, family, and landscape in the Ortona area.

Why choose it: it is bright, accessible, and varied: in just a few days it moves from the Adriatic to the hills, from wine to cuisine, from photos to encounters.

To put on the map: Schiavi di Abruzzo, Celenza sul Trigno, Torrebruna, Palmoli, Liscia, Castiglione Messer Marino, Tufillo and, as an inland extension, Colledimezzo. With more time, Vasto or the Chieti coast.

To experience: a village named in the family, a local story, a home kitchen, a street, a square, or a landscape previously known only through stories.

Why choose it: it is the track for those who do not only want to visit, but to recognize themselves in a place and build a more concrete relationship with those who still live there.

To put on the map: Roccascalegna, Casoli, Gessopalena, Iuvanum, Torricella Peligna, Fara San Martino, Palena, Taranta Peligna, and the Maiella. With more time, Popoli and the Pescara springs.

To experience: castles, villages, archaeology, local guides, trattorias, small producers, and Frentano cuisine. As an extension toward Val Pescara, it can also include Mezzopasso.

Why choose it: it is slower and less predictable: landscapes, details, and encounters that make you want to return.

To put on the map: Teramo, Torricella Sicura, the Teramo hills, Castelli, Gran Sasso, Campo Imperatore, and nearby villages to choose based on available days.

To experience: olive mills, liqueurs, ceramics workshops, mountains, and real supply chains. Here there can be a dialogue among Tenuta Zuppini, Scuppoz e Ceramiche Simonetti.

Why choose it: it is the track for those who want to take away addresses, faces, flavors, and objects with a story.

Each track can be shortened, extended, or combined with the others. Before leaving, stops, schedules, openings, and experience availability should always be checked.

ARRIVING AND MOVING AROUND

Abruzzo is close. It takes the right time.

For those arriving from abroad, Rome, Pescara, Naples, or Apulia can be different entry points. The choice depends on days, flights, and pace.

A car and realistic timing help connect the coast, villages, businesses, and family towns without rushing too much.

CHIEDI INFORMAZIONI DISCOVER MAVIVO

It depends on the trip. Rome Fiumicino is often the most practical gateway for intercontinental flights and makes it possible to connect Abruzzo to a broader itinerary in Italy. Pescara is the most direct regional entry point. Napoli or Apulia may make sense for longer trips in Central and Southern Italy.

For inland villages, businesses, wineries, olive mills, and less connected towns, a car is often the most flexible solution. Some inland roads are scenic and winding: they are not a problem, but they should be considered when planning timing.

A coastal base can be more convenient for those seeking services, the sea, and quick connections. An inland base is more immersive and allows you to better experience villages, towns, and landscapes. In many cases, a combination works well: coast and inland, without rushing too much.

With 2–3 days you can build a first taste, especially if Abruzzo is connected to a broader trip. With 4–5 days you can better connect coast, inland areas, cuisine, and know-how. With 6 days or more you can add the Maiella, L’Aquila, Gran Sasso, or other regional areas.

No. Roots are an important access point, but not the only one. This page is also designed for people with Italian heritage more broadly, for those who love authentic Made in Italy, and for those seeking a less mainstream Italy made of recognizable places, people, and production.

Schiavi di Abruzzo is the first concrete case of the Roots That Connect project, connected to the Abruzzese community in Paraguay. It is a real story to start from, not a boundary: the path can open to other villages, communities, and areas of Abruzzo.

WHERE THE JOURNEY CAN CONTINUE

A meaningful experience does not end when you leave

When you encounter a territory through families, villages, products, businesses, and stories, something remains: a flavor, a face, an address, a story to share.

A story

To recover, write, translate, or share with the community.

A product

To recognize better because you know where it comes from and who makes it.

A return

To imagine more calmly, perhaps starting from a village or a family.

A relationship

To cultivate between Abruzzo, communities around the world, businesses, and territories.
